Each PCT is responsible for supplying patient list size data in respect of each GP.

Patient list size data is currently extracted from each "Exeter" payment site on a quarterly basis (job name AJ-ASCT). This information is then sent to the PPD via disk or e-mail.

The PPD convert patient list size data into prescribing units. The prescribing unit is used to provide a facility to "weight" each section of the population for reporting purposes.

NB It is imperative that the information supplied to the PPD is accurate. Erroneous information can lead to incorrect data appearing on PPD prescribing data.
