Overview of Financial, Prescribing, Dispensing and Drug Information Services provided by the NHS Business Services Authority PPD

The NHS Business Services Authority's PPD Information Services provide NHS stakeholders with consistent prescribing volume, trend and cost analyses, based on prescribing by GPs and other prescribers that was dispensed in the community, for prescribing and financial management purposes.

A service for Pharmaceutical and Prescribing Advisors which allows real time on-line analysis of the previous sixty months prescribing data held on the NHSBSA PPD Prescribing Database.

A service for Trust Pharmaceutical and Prescribing Advisors, which allows real time on-line access to outpatient prescription data held on the NHSBSA PPD Prescribing Database.

A service that enables practice based prescribers to compare and manage their prescribing performance against National and PCT comparators.
 
 
 
 
 
PMD 5

PMD provides prescribers, pharmaceutical and prescribing advisors with monthly financial information about prescribing costs against budgets, to enable management of the drugs element of unified budgets.
 
 
 
 
IPP 6

A report for finance officers, pharmaceutical and prescribing advisors showing the monthly apportionment of each month's national cash limited elements of prescriptions dispensed.
 
 
 
 
 
Prescribing Toolkit

The Prescribing Toolkit enables pharmaceutical and prescribing advisors to compare their prescribing performance against other prescribing organisations using predefined drug lists and indicators.
 
 
 
PD2 7

The PD2 provides Pharmaceutical and Prescribing Advisors with a quarterly PCT level summary of prescribing. It helps identify prescribing that warrants further analysis through the ePACT.net service.
 
 
 
 
 
PCT prescribing report

The quarterly PCT Prescribing Report allows the PCT Board and their prescribing advisor to compare and measure their prescribing performance against Strategic Health Authority and National comparators in order to determine and manage their overall performance.
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
PCT repeat dispensing report

A report to monitor the cost and number of prescriptions under the repeat dispensing initiative for each prescriber and practice within a PCT.

A report of monthly and cumulative net ingredient cost of non-FP10 supply by OOHC providers.
 
 
 
 
 
 
PD1 10

The PD1 Report shows statistical fee based data. This relates to all NHS prescriptions dispensed or personally administered in England, which were submitted to the PPD in a particular month.
DH National Programme Budget Reports
