| PCT Reports
The
PCT Reports suite consists of three reports for monitoring
prescribing against national comparators and for monitoring
new initiatives such as repeat dispensing and non-FP10
supply by out of hours care providers.
The
PCT Prescribing Report
The
quarterly PCT Prescribing Report allows the PCT Board
and their prescribing advisor to compare and measure
their prescribing performance against Strategic Health
Authority and National comparators in order to determine
and manage their overall performance.
The
report is presented in three sections:
-
Section 1 describes the trends and current position
of prescribing within the PCT in terms of both cost
and volume. This is based on chapters and sections
in the British National Formulary (BNF). Actual values
and growth from the same quarter in the previous year
is provided for the PCT, SHA and England.
- Section
2 examines an area of prescribing which has been identified
as a current area of concern or driver of growth for
primary care. This is intended to cover areas such
as DH policy statements, National Institute for Health
and Clinical Excellence (NICE) guidance and implementation
of National Service Frameworks (NSFs).
- Section
3 is intended as a reference source to information.
It includes contact details for the collaborating
organisations and useful web site addresses.
The
report is provided electronically to all PCTs on a financial
quarter basis. The data is available two months after
the quarter end. The recipients of the reports will
receive an e-mail notification, alerting them that the
report is available, containing a hyperlink to the PPD
website, www.ppa.nhs.uk.
When
accessing the report they will be required to use their
personal username and password to gain access to their
information. This can then be viewed on-line, saved
as a PDF file or printed locally.
Repeat
Dispensing Report
PCT
pharmaceutical advisors can access a monthly Repeat
Dispensing report, which shows for each practice and
prescriber, the total cost and number of items prescribed
under the Repeat Dispensing initiative forms compared
to the total cost and number of items of general prescribing.
Out of Hours Care (OOHC) Non-FP10 Net Ingredient Cost (NIC) Report
An
Out of Hours Provider can supply drugs, dressings, etc
from stock based on a Patient Group Direction (PGD).
This is known as non-FP10 supply. A non-FP10 prescription
form is used and submitted to the PPD for the capture
and reporting of this information.
The
PCT OOHC NIC report shows the monthly and cumulative
costs of non-FP10 supply by each OOHC provider in the
PCT.
The
National OOHC NIC report shows the monthly and cumulative
costs of non-FP10 information by PCT.
