For the purposes of the PPA, a community nurse is a
qualified independent nurse prescriber, who is employed
by a PCT, to prescribe for patients of practices within
the PCT.
The nurse may be qualified to prescribe from the District
Nurse and Health Visitor Prescribers’ Formulary
or the Nurse Prescribers’ Extended Formulary or
as an independent / supplementary prescriber.
