Growth
in Prescription Volume and Cost Reports
The
following reports were prepared for the Management
Team of the Prescription Pricing Division. They
explore year on year changes in the national trends
in prescription volume and cost to identify the
main drivers for growth in volume and cost. All
data are from Prescribing Information and therefore
only include prescribing by general practitioners
and nurse prescribers in England. Volumes and
cost from Prescribing Information data differ
slightly from the Prescription Cost Analysis statistics
that are published by the Statistics Division,
Department of Health. The latter also include
prescriptions from dentists (FP10D) and hospitals
(FP10HP) and they are based on prescriptions dispensed
in England.
The
reports are intended for internal use in the NHSBSA
but may be of interest to a wider audience in
the NHS and therefore we are making it available
on the website.
The
following table shows the different reports and
their release date:
