Dear Sir / Madam, Cannock Chase PCT have not been able to answer the following question and have suggested I should get in touch with you. I am writing to you to request the number items dispensed for children up to and including the age of 18 that are being prescribed Methylphenidate (Ritalin or Concerta) for the treatment of ADHD, in your own particular area. If that is not available I would like know the costs involved as a PCT for prescribing the above mentioned items. I am conducting research into these figures and have obtained responses from other authorities accross the West Midlands. I look forward to your response, either by email or by post.
Status: Complete Response Date: 05 Sep 2005 I am writing to advise you that following a search of our paper and electronic records, I have established that the information you requested is not held by the Authority. As part of my duty to advise and assist, may I draw your attention to the fact that the Authority does not record patient details on our computer systems as these are not required as part of the payment process, therefore we can only identify which under 18?s have been prescribed Methylphenidate by physically searching the batches of prescriptions of chemists in the Cannock Chase area. Given that a typical chemist batch consists of over 5,000 prescriptions per month and that there are about 28 chemists in the Cannock Chase area, it is an impractical task to undertake. |
