Request 1: Any and all data held on the PPA's databases or other records showing or relevant to calculating the number of prescriptions dispensed in the community in England for: 1 SPIRIVA 18mcg capsules prescribed with a Handihaler device; 2 SPIRIVA 18mcg capsules prescribed without a Handihaler device; 3 30 or fewer SPIRIVA 18mcg capsules, prescribed without a Handihaler device; 4 between 31-60 SPIRIVA 18mcg capsules, prescribed without a Handihaler device; 5 between 61-90 SPIRIVA 18mcg capsules, prescribed without a Handihaler device; and 6 a Handihaler device on its own (i.e. other than as part of prescriptions under paragraph 1 above). The data sought should include prescriptions written by reference to the product name "SPIRIVA" and by reference to the active ingredient tiotropium. The data is sought for each of the following time periods: - January to December 2002 (inclusive); - January to December 2003 (inclusive); - January to December 2004 (inclusive); and - January to December 2005 (inclusive). Request 2: Any and all entries in editions of the PPA Prescribing Review detailing or discussing prescribing guidance or trends for "SPIRIVA", the active ingredient tiotropium, long-acting bronchodilators or COPD treatments generally. Note: The purpose of these requests is to obtain information held by the PPA showing prescribing data, practices and trends for the product "SPIRIVA" (active ingredient tiotropium). It is understood from discussions with the Prescribing Support Unit of the Department of Health that it is the PPA which holds the data relevant to the above requests. Scottish prescribing data has already been provided by the NHS.
