This document lists the steps needed to be carried out to enable a client browser to print out the Prescribing Indicators Graphs. Windows must first be setup correctly, then the browser may be configured.

The Windows screen resolution on the browser PC should be set to at least 800 x 600 pixels.

(1) Select "START...SETTINGS...CONTROL PANEL"

(2) Double-click on the "DISPLAY" icon.

(3) Select the "SETTINGS" tab and drag the "DESKTOP AREA" bar to at least "800 BY 600 PIXELS".

(1) Select "HELP...ABOUT INTERNET EXPLORER"

and make sure your browser version is at least 4.72.3110.8. If it isnt then download the latest version from Microsofts Web site.

(2) Choose "VIEW...INTERNET OPTIONS" BUT if you are using Internet Explorer 5 choose "TOOLS...INTERNET OPTIONS "

(3) Select "SECURITY" Tab

(4) Select "TRUSTED SITES ZONE" (In IE 5, there is a selection of icons to choose from instead of a drop-down list box, in which case select the Trusted Zones Icon)

(5) Select "ADD SITES"

(6) Enter the Toolkits domain e.g. "http://www.ppa.nhs.uk" then select "ADD". (Make sure the "REQUIRE SERVER VERIFICATION..." checkbox is unchecked).

(7) Select "CUSTOM (FOR EXPERIENCED USERS)" radio button

(8) Select "SETTINGS"

(9.1) Select "JAVA...JAVA PERMISSIONS...CUSTOM" radio button.

(9.2) Select "JAVA CUSTOM SETTINGS"

(10) Select "EDIT PERMISSIONS" tab, scroll down to "PRINTING" and select "ENABLED" radio button. Then select "OK".

(11) Select "JAVA CUSTOM SETTINGS". Select "VIEW PERMISSIONS" tab and ensure "PRINTING" has "ACCESS OK" beside it. Select "OK" all the way back out of "INTERNET OPTIONS".

If "PRINTING" does not have "ACCESS OK" beside it then repeat from step 10 or you can repeat from the first step.

(12) At the bottom of the browser window you will get a "TRUSTED SITES ZONE" icon appearing to signal everything went ok. This might not appear, or printing might not work until you "REFRESH" the browser or until the next time you log onto the system.
