The objectives of the toolkit are to provide standard information sets for policy initiatives such as:

• performance management
• budget setting
• incentive schemes
• Complement the query based Electronic PACT system
• Provide timely answers to pre-set questions automatically

Initially requested by PISEG (Prescribing Information Systems Executive Group) and PC1 (Prescribing Branch).

As a result of workshops held for medical and pharmaceutical advisers the following Prescribing Toolkit reports were developed by the PPA:

These reports are produced automatically in July to cover the previous financial year and in November to cover the previous calendar year and will be based on annual data for the most recently available 12 month period.

This report shows a pre-defined list of high cost drugs at National, HA, PCG and Practice Level in a format similar to the PACT concise catalogue format.

These reports will be produced twice a year in July and early December. They will be based on annual data. The July issue is based on the previous financial year and the December issue is based on the most recently available 12 month period.

• Top 40 presentations by amount of potential savings at National level.
• Top 30 presentations by amount of potential savings at HA level.
• Top 30 presentations by amount of potential savings at PCG level.
• Top 20 presentations by amount of potential savings at Practice level.

The reports will be produced automatically in June to cover the previous financial year and in December to cover the most recently available 12 month period.

HA level reports go to PCGs, HAs, ROs and Executives.

Utilises DDDs, ASTRO-PUs and STAR-PUs.
