Amended POM Order for extended nurse prescribers
The POM Order was amended with effect from 10th December 2003 to allow extended formulary nurse prescribers to prescribe the following controlled drugs :
Co-Phenotrope - oral
Codeine Phosphate - oral
Diazepam - oral, parenteral or rectal administration in palliative care
Dihydrocodeine Tartrate - oral
Lorazepam - oral or parenteral administration in palliative care
Midazolam - parenteral administration in palliative care
Part XVIIB(ii) of the Drug Tariff will be amended to reflect this change from the January 2004 edition but the PPA will apply this change from 10th December 2003 onwards.
