A two-day training course covering advanced use of the EPACT prescribing system.

Designed for

• Health Authority prescribing advisors and analysts who have previously received basic EPACT training and wish to utilise the system to it's full potential.
• Advisors and analysts who may have previously undertaken advanced training and would like a refresher course to familiarise themselves with new EPACT features.

Objectives

On completion of training you should be able to:

• Make full use of EPACT modules.
• Perform complex prescribing tasks at Health Authority, PCG and Practice levels.

Content

• Use of prescribing volume measures (Defined Daily Doses and Average Daily Quantities).
• Generic and Therapeutic substitution.
• Creating and using User defined BNF totals to compare prescribing between groups of drugs - e.g. PPI maintenance to treatment.
• Use of Query by Example to perform complex queries based on a number of predefined parameters.
• Advanced graphing techniques and incorporating EPACT graphs into documents and presentation packages.
• Export of EPACT data into third party applications.
• Manipulation of exported EPACT data spreadsheet packages to perform complex prescribing tasks - drug dosage optimisation and evaluation of incentive scheme prescribing indicators.

A maximum of ten delegates can be accommodated per course, with each delegate receiving full hands-on training using realistic prescribing information.

Previous experience with the EPACT system is not necessary but delegates should have a basic working knowledge of Windows applications.

This is a full two-day training course starting at 9:30 a.m. and finishing at approximately 4pm each day. Delegates are expected to attend all sessions and should organise travel arrangements and work commitments accordingly.
