Amended Regulations for extended nurse prescribers

Regulations were amended with effect from 16th October 2003 to allow extended formulary nurse prescribers to prescribe the controlled drugs codeine phosphate and dihydrocodeine tartrate when they are part of a P or GSL medicine. This does not extend to Prescription Only Medicines as the POM Order has not yet been amended. Part XVIIB (ii) of the Drug Tariff will be amended to reflect this change from the December edition but the PPA will apply this change from 16th October 2003 onwards.
