Branded drugs that are produced by more than one manufacturer

Some branded drugs are available from more than one manufacturer, but are still licensed under the same name, (e.g. Dianette, Dicloflex Retard 100mg, Dicloflex E/C 25mg and 50mg, Nifedipress MR10 and Verapress MR 240).

As the reimbursement price of a branded drug is based on the manufacturer’s list price, reimbursement prices for these brands may differ depending on the manufacturer supplied.

Therefore, in order for the PPD to accurately reimburse contractors for the dispensed item, branded products produced by more than one manufacturer should be endorsed with the manufacturer of the item supplied.
