Request for Spurious Code

Spurious GP codes can be created by the PPA following requests from PCT's by using the proforma - Notification of GP/Practice Amendments click here to print copy. These are used for a variety of reasons, including:

• A locum doctor working in a practice where the GP has resigned (normally single-handed vacancy's)
  
• Special exercises, projects or initiatives running in the PCT and funded from the PCT prescribing budget. i.e. Dermatology Centres, Hospices etc.

Tick the box - Request for Spurious Code.

The Addition column should be completed with the following details:

• GP's Name /Title (it is advisable to have the name of the project rather than a GP's name)
  
• Partnership - the name of the senior partner if the spurious number is to be included in an existing practice
  
• Address (this is the address which will be printed on the prescription pad)
  
• Postcode (the postcode of the surgery identified in the address box)
  
• Telephone number (the telephone number including the STD code of the surgery identified in the address box)
  
• The GP six figure NCN will be confirmed in writing to the PCT by the PPA
  
• Tick if the GP is prescribing or dispensing
  
• Tick if the GP provides a limited service
  
• Tick if the GP is a partner
  
• Tick if the GP is a salaried GP
  
• Tick if the GP is eligible for oxygen payment
  
• Tick if the practice the GP is joining is a PMS pilot site
  
• The responsible payment site of the practice the GP is joining (your Finance Department may be able to advise)
  
• The effective date of the GP joining the practice.

If the spurious code is not becoming part of an existing practice then before the PPA can provide the code, The PCT must provide an appropriate budget and patient list size.

The PCT must order:

• Personalised GP prescription pads form Astron using the Astron ordering procedure.
