ePACT.net Graph Templates
The PPA graph templates currently available in the ePACT.net system have been reviewed and it has been decided to simplify the template options available to users.
The existing templates will be replaced by three default templates :
- Default Trend
- Default Practice Profile
- Default BNF Profile

This will take place to coincide with the release of July prescribing data, early in September. All existing PPA default templates will be deleted from the template list. Please note that only the PPA graph templates will be deleted - any templates created and saved by users will still be available.
Definitions of the three new templates are provided. A token data field of Actual Cost has been used for each template but this field can be changed by the user.
Changing and adding data fields
To change the graph data field from Actual Cost, highlight the field and select Edit.Select a new data field from the Fields list .
To add an additional data field, select Add and select an additional data field from the list.
Avoid adding too many data fields to the graph as the graph will be difficult to read.
Can I save a copy of a PPA template before it is deleted?
You can save a private copy of a PPA template. This template will still be available to you when the PPA templates have been deleted from the system.
- Select the template from the list.
- Select Save/Delete Templates
- Type a new name for the template to save it as a private template.

How to use the template
Data field
Highlight the Actual Cost data field and select Edit to change to an alternative data field if required. The Add button can be used to insert additional data fields, avoid adding too many as the graph will be cluttered and difficult to view.
Data selection and summary levels
Select the date range you wish to analyse, if analysing single or multiple years there is no need to expand and select individual months. The summary level is set by default as Month, this can be changed to Quarter if required. If trending for a period before your PCT was formed remember to click in the Financial check box
Select the organisation you wish to trend. If you wish to trend more than one organisation as separate lines, change the organisation summary level to Selected Organisations.
Make your BNF selection. If you wish to trend more than one BNF selection as separate lines, change the BNF summary level to Selected Drugs.

Select the date range you wish to analyse. If you wish to compare prescribing between two periods for each practice change period summary level to Selected Periods. If you want to view total prescribing for the period, leave the summary level at the default Accumulate Periods.
To profile all practices in the PCT select the accumulated PCT, there is no need to expand and select all the practices. However, to profile practices in a tag you must first expand the tag and select all practices.
Make your BNF selection. If you wish to compare more than one BNF selection per practice, change the BNF summary level to Selected Drugs.
